various physical aspects of the instrument. Notes are made on the
frame/structure/keybed, cabinet finish/esthetics, bench, soundboard,
pin-block, treble bridges, bass bridge/apron, treble string, bass string,
bushings, key tops, black keys, hammers, action parts/felt/alignment,
regulation, tuning and pitch, pedals, and trap work. Costs of repair are
indicated if needed. This provides the customer with a great deal of useful
information regarding condition of various structures in the piano. A
detailed appraisal such as this one is useful, reassuring, and encouraging
to a potential buyer.
Estimates for various repairs are given, and are valid for 6
months.
Strike Point Piano Services is involved in the sales of intruments, however, due to the change in production of instruments in the last 15 years, we are very specific in what we buy and sell these days. That being said, we get calls on a regualr basis from people wanting to sell thier pianos, likewise, thier are many confused buyers out there who are looking for a good used intrument. We help to make the connection between these two groups by keeping a data base, and linking buyers up with people who have instruments that suit thier needs.
If you have a piano that you would like to sell, and might be of interest to us, please contact Strike Point and we will
consider buying your piano.
We do all types of repairs to all types of pianos. We also do repairs to furniture and casing as well. If your bench is broken or the case of your piano is damaged, we can repair and refinish it.
High quality lacquer finishes are done in either high gloss or
satin rubs. Various colors and pore types can be
chosen, schedule an appointment today to have your piano restored to its original beauty. We also repair dings and scratches.
Strike Point rebuilds are essentially new pianos. All rebuilt pianos receive: cabinet, bench, soundboard, and plate refinishing, detailing, new decals, hardware buffing and polishing, action and
key *bead blasting, thorough cleaning and polishing of action springs and
wires, restored tension to springs, new pin block, pins and strings,
bridge pins, bridge caps, soundboard shims, new ABEL hammers (Germany), key bushings, key tops and fronts, key front rail and
balance rail pins, front and balance rail punchings, sharp tops, rollers, center pins, action felts and string felts, and an overhauled pedal lyer. All contact surfaces are lubricated with the highest quality micro **Teflon
powder.
Strike Point does precise regulation using custom tools and techniques to achieve a finer, more responsive regulation. Each piano is customised for the artist by taking notes on such things as preference in touch weight
and style of playing. Strike ratios,
hammer weighting, and action friction co-efficients are just a few of the
factors taken into account when custom building an instrument. Once we have all the information we need, it will be possible to install the right parts and give a
regulation that will best suit the artists needs.
Rebuilding jobs are completed promptly, efficiently, and are backed by a 5
year warranty (see information on warranties).
Strike Point can regulate in your home or in our shop depending
on the circumstances. We take great pride in making the piano feel and
perform the way you want it to.
All Strike Point tunings are tuned in equal temperament at Standard North American pitch *A-440. A tuning apointment is an hour and a half. During this time, the area needs to be reasonably quiet to do a good job. Due to the lives of many families, Scott Reeves is available for tuning pretty much any time; days, evenings, weekends, even holidays sometimes ;)
Voicing is done when a customer is not satified with the tone of the instrument. Voicing a piano can make the notes sound more "consistant" and "even" with respect to each other. Voicing can make your piano sound different by making the notes more "thick", "full", "bright", or "mellow" etc. A well voiced piano is also much easier to tune, and will yeild more artistic satisfaction when playing.
