As I pointed out in Shop Tour Part 1, I am a big fan of hide glue. Hide glue is one of the oldest types of glues, however I love it for many reasons. Many technicians have stopped using hide glue because it is very particular in the way you mix and heat it, but if one can use it right, it does an excellent job! You are looking at one of my homemade contraptions that I use to heat the glue; it works wonders. This glue pot was made from an old Proctor Silex soup warmer. The temperature is adjustable and the heat is dispersed evenly because of the water jacket surrounding the glue tin.
